ANGELUS CHORUS
August 28, 2012* Note: This event has already passed.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 28 AT 7 PM
The City of Cape May is pleased to announce the performance of the Angelus Chorus on August 28 at 7 p.m.
Angelus Chorus began in November 1964 with a small group of local residents volunteering to sing Christmas carols for residents in the Angelus Convalescent Home in Wildwood. After the holidays, the group organized and began serious rehearsals and became known as The Angelus Chorus. Over the years, they continued to practice and perform in the local communities. Any monies received were given back to the convalescent home. After the Angelus Convalescent Home closed, the chorus continued to perform and benefits were given to various community organizations such as the Volunteers in Medicine, Project Lifesaver - Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, Holy Redeemer Jersey Shore Food Pantry, and Family Promise of Cape May County.
Since 2006, our director has been Dr. Richard Stanislaw, President and CEO of Ocean City Tabernacle. He is a composer/arranger, music educator, hymnologist, and has expanded not only our repertoire, but our membership.
Our accompanist is Ruth Fritsch, organist and choir director of the Cape Island Baptist Church, and is only the second accompanist in the Chorus' 48 year history.
The Angelus Chorus rehearses on Monday evenings during the school year at the Middle Township High School from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Their concerts are given during April, May, and December. Those interested in joining us or learning more can call (609) 898-0324 for more information.
