Since 1977 the City of Cape May has administered the Section 8 Housing Assistance Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Program subsidizes a portion of the rent for safe and decent year round housing. It is designed to assist income eligible elderly, disabled, and single member households and families based on the income limits established by HUD. In order to apply, you must be 18 years of age or older, or an emancipated minor.
Income Limits based on the Number of Persons Per Household: 2005
1 Person - $21,600 4 Persons - $30,850
2 Persons - $24,700 5 Persons - $33,300
3 Persons - $27,750 6 Persons - $36,800

Only those rental units located within the jurisdiction of the City of Cape May are eligible to approved applicants during the initial year of assisted occupancy.
