The following are the status' of City controlled projects - indicates COMPLETE or EXPENDED
WP MODIFICATIONS TO CHLORINATION SYSTEM - Project involves removal of Sodium Hypochlorite system to be replaced by chlorinator system. Design complete. Bid documents out. Initial costs too high, being re-bid.
DELAWARE AVENUE PEDESTRIAN RAMP - Design complete. Permit applications received. Bid documents completed. Bid awarded. Awaiting fund approval from county.
CITY HALL HVAC - engineering initiated as to preparation of bid specifications to install new heating and cooling systems in City Hall. Bids received. Came in too high and were rejected.
Sanitary Inflow & Infiltration REMEDIATION - Funds appropriated and design work initiated for Columbia Avenue - Franklin to Madison, Maryland Avenue - Madison to Trenton, and Massachusetts - West to Texas. USDA has agreed to fund this project with a $1,200,000 low interest loan and a $600,000 grant. Scheduled to begin in Winter 2006.
COMPLETE
2005 ROAD PROGRAM - funds appropriated. Total cost will be approximately $1,200,000, with $140,000 as a DOT grant. Streets identified as Washington Street from Madison to Union, Cake Street from Washington to its end (option) and 2nd Avenue from Beach to Mt. Vernon. Bid awarded. Work 90% complete.
AM RADIO INFORMATION SYSTEM - Quote awarded. FCC license applied for and equipment building installed at Madison Avenue location. Awaiting electric and phone line connection. Broadcast equipment ordered. FCC license received. Equipment installed. Awaiting antenna. Operational.
2004 ROAD PROGRAM - funds appropriated, Streets identified and work initiated. Work completed on Washington Street and Chestnut. Work initiated on Jefferson and McCullam the end of September.
BENTON AVENUE PUMP STATION - specifications being prepared. Bid awarded 3/2. Preliminary work to be complete by May 15. Pump installations scheduled to begin on September 15. Landscaping complete Canopy to be installed the week of 1/23/2006. Dedication to be held in summer of 2006.
CITY & COUNTY BIKE LANES - Grant received, design completed, bids awarded and contract authorized. Cost will be $190,570 all of which will be paid by a State grant. Work to be done starting October 17, 2005. Streets include Madison Avenue from Columbia to Beach, New Jersey from Madison to Wilmington, Pennsylvania from Pittsburg to Buffalo, and Brooklyn from Pennsylvania to Delaware.
CONVENTION HALL NEED ANALYSIS - contract awarded and initial meetings held. Interim update will be scheduled for mid May. Revised recommendations given to consultant. Final report scheduled by 10/15/2005. Presentation to be made to Council and public at 11/1 workshop meeting.
RENOVATION OF FISHERMEN'S MEMORIAL LANDSCAPE - quotes accepted and awarded. Work completed.
WILMINGTON AVENUE BEACH ACCESS RAMP - All DEP approvals received. Concrete access complete. Wooden boardwalk 95% complete. When complete:
1)
It will extend and link the existing dunes in this area;
2)
It will help reduce ocean wash-over at this area during times of
excessive high tide or storm surge;
3)
It will eliminate the accumulation of sand on Beach and Wilmington
Avenues, and the resulting blocking of the storm water outlet servicing this and
adjacent areas;
4)
It will allow for the relocation of the current non-ADA compliant public
access to a site, more centrally compliant, with an associated dune walkover,
located on Wilmington Avenue;
5)
It will eliminate the current beach access, which is an obvious
obstruction, that runs parallel to the beach on Beach Avenue
6)
It will provide for ADA-required access ramps, which the City has agreed
to install as a result of a recent legal settlement.
It will also enhance the protection of that section of Cape May due to the
addition of dune barriers, which currently do not exist.
HANDICAP ACCESS RAMP TRENTON BEACH - Pre-fabricated boardwalk ordered. Existing wood access extended. Boardwalk installed and operation. Signage installed.
2003 ROAD PROGRAM - funds appropriated, streets identified and work has begun. All work scheduled to be completed by January 4, 2004. Completion delayed to cold weather. Now scheduled for April 15.
REPLACE/RAISE BENTON AVENUE OUTFALLS - specs completed, quotes received and contact awarded.
ROOF REPAIRS FOR SOLARIUM, HENRY RESTAURANT, PUBLIC WORKS AND CONVENTION CENTER - Projects awarded May 7. Completed except for Henry's
REPLACEMENT OF CORNICE'S ON PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING - Proposal received and being reviewed by the City. Funds for this project have been approved in the 2002 capital budget. Bid awarded and work initiated.
2002 ROAD PROGRAM - funds appropriated, streets identified and bid documents being prepared. Project awarded and final paving scheduled for spring.
PREPARATION OF HISTORIC GUIDELINES - specifications approved and released. Proposals proposal awarded on May 7. Completed and adopted by the Council.
TRAFFIC AND PARKING STUDY - the City has received a $25,000 special legislative grant, obtained by Assemblyman Nick Asselta, to perform a traffic and parking study. The City will conduct this study as part of our new Master Plan. The study is completed and being incorporated into the new Master Plan.
CONVENTION HALL REPAIRS - Structural analysis complete and plans and specifications being prepared. Three bays reinforced with steel beams and cribbing to allow for continued operation.
EXTENSION OF OCEAN STREET OUTFALL PIPE - project to extend pipe 54 feet to alleviate flooding of Ocean Street area. Complete July 12.
INSTALLATION OF TANK AND CARBONIC ACID AT R.O. PLANT - specifications have been completed and project has been advertised for bids. Bid was awarded on December 4, 2001 and work has begun on installation. System operating and being tested. Operational July 19.
CONSTRUCTION OF POLE BUILDING AT PUBLIC WORKS - this project has been awarded and work will begin the week of April 1. Completed May 15.
COMPUTERIZED SANITARY, STORM AND WATER AS-BUILT MAPPING - Maps delivered on April 5.
2001 ROAD PROJECT - Roadways selected, financing in place and engineering compete. Bids were opened on August 31 and work is currently underway. All work completed.
INSTALLATION OF VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVES ON VARIOUS CITY WELLS - Engineering has been completed, and the drives have been installed, and are currently being tested. Complete.
INSTALLATION OF FLOW METER IN DELAWARE AVENUE PUMP STATION This meter has been installed and the project is complete.
HISTORIC PROPERTY'S INTENSIVE LEVEL SURVEY - the City has received a $31,100 grant from the Historic Preservation Office to conduct a survey of the City's historic property's. The RFP's received significantly exceed the money available to perform this survey. The proposal requirements have been revised in the GIS area, and are being resubmitted to those companies which submitted quotes. Revised quotes have been received, and they still exceed the available grant funds. They are being review by the State at this time. The City has requested that the funds for this grant be re-appropriated to the development of Historic Property Guidelines. The State is considering this request. This project is now on hold pending a resubmission of a new grant application early in 2006.
INSTALLATION OF FIRE ALARMS IN VARIOUS CITY BUILDINGS - Engineering completed and contract awarded. Alarms installed and the City is awaiting the operation training on them.
REPAIR OF STEEL COLUMNS ON CONVENTION CENTER - quotes have been received and are being reviewed by the City. Work is scheduled for completion by the end of the year,
CONVENTION HALL STUDY - a contract has been awarded to A. J. O'Sullivan to prepare a physical maintenance and improvement program for Convention Hall. In addition, a feasibility study for future uses of and improvements to the building will also be prepared. This report was provided to the Council on August 7, 2001 and this phase of the project is closed. The City will now review the report and determine how it wishes to proceed. It was funded by a $25,000 special legislative grant, obtained by Assemblyman Nick Asselta.
TRANSPORTATION CENTER - this project is completed. The project was funded by a NJDOT Transportation Enhancement Program in the amount of $583,000.
PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY - this project is complete. It was funded by a Centers of Place grant in the amount of $110,000.
BROADWAY PAVILION - this project is completed. bids were open on this project on February 2. Recommendation for award were made on February 6. The project is now complete, the bathrooms are open and the tenant is currently operating the retail area.
HARBOR VIEW PARK - this project is completed. The area has been graded, seeded and planted with trees and shrubs from and environmental grant.
FRANKLIN STREET SCHOOL - roof and heating system replacement has been completed, and the original contract has been closed. These activities were funded by a Small Cities Community Development Block Grant. The City has now leased the building to Center for Community Arts who now will continue seeking various grants to restore the building.
PUBLIC WORKS YARD - This project which involved the expansion of the parking area and access roads, new lighting and perimeter fencing, has been completed. The City has now completed the process of landscaping various areas of the yard.
INSTALLATION OF LOUVER DOOR ON UPS BUILDING - Engineering completed and contract awarded. Door were installed on September 7. This project is now complete.
CONNECTION OF DPW BUILDING TO UPS SYSTEM - This project has now been completed.
LANDSCAPING FRONT OF CITY HALL - Installation of new shrubs, plants, sprinkler system and sod is complete.
