  • Please know that digital parking payments with credit/debit cards via ParkMobile are required by the City of Cape May at the following locations*: Carpenters Lane Lyle Lane Mansion Street the Jackson Street Parking Lot, the Welcome Center parking lots, the north side of Beach Avenue.
  • Paid parking in effect April 1st through December 31st on Carpenters Lane, Lyle Lane, Mansion Street, and in the Welcome Center parking lots.
  • In all other areas, paid parking is in effect April 1st through October 31st*.

Here are the 5 ways to Use ParkMobile:

1. Download the ParkMobile App and follow the instructions.

2. Scan QR code (also on the green ParkMobile signage) and follow the instructions.

3. Type in parkmobile.io in your mobile phone’s internet brower and follow the instructions.

NOTICE OF CHANGE IN TRAFFIC PATTERNS: BEACH AVENUE

Beginning on Friday April 12th and continuing thru the week of April 15th, the final paving operation of Beach Avenue will be underway.  This includes the paving of the final surface course.    During normal working hours as the paving proceeds, Beach Avenue will be restricted to one lane in the east bound direction with west bound traffic detouring around the work zone as has occurred with the previous milling operation.   Two-way traffic will resume at the end of the day. Weather permitting, paving will start at Broadway (CR 626) with the east bound travel lane being paved heading toward Pittsburgh Ave (CR 622) beginning on  Friday 4/12.

On Monday 4/15, the paving will start at Pittsburgh Ave (Cr 622) and the paving of the west bound drive lane toward Broadway will proceed. On Tuesday 4/16, the shoulder area between the east bound travel lane and the concrete or wood bulkhead will be paved. Wednesday 4/17, the shoulder area between the west bound travel lane and the northerly curb line will be paved.

The remainder of the week will be spent addressing intersections and other irregular shaped shoulder areas and it is anticipated that all paving will be completed by April 19th.

During the paving period, Beach Ave will remain open to traffic in one direction during paving operations and both lanes will be opened at night. However, motorists are urged to proceed with caution due to temporary drop-offs with the new paving edge and the lack of traffic striping.   Centerline reflectors will be placed as a temporary guide to segregate the travel lanes until permanent striping is in place.

PUBLIC NOTICE Federal Emergency Management Agency In accordance with 44 CFR §9.8 for Executive Order 11988 Proposed Home Elevations Atlantic and Cape May Counties, New Jersey

Notification is hereby given to the public of the intent of the Department of Homeland SecurityFederal Emergency Management Agency (DHS-FEMA) to provide federal funding to the City of Margate as subrecipient for the proposed elevation of 22 residential structures through the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant program. The purpose of the FMA grant program is to reduce the loss of life and property due to natural disasters. This notification is given in accordance with Executive Order 11988 (Floodplain Management), and its implementing regulations in 44 CFR Part 9, and the National Historic Preservation Act.

The proposed scope of work consists of elevating flood prone homes to the base flood elevation (BFE), as indicated by best available flood map data, plus at least two (2) feet of freeboard. Raising the living spaces will offer protection to the homeowners and their belongings.

This action would take place within the 100-year floodplain. Alternatives considered include: 1) no action, 2) acquisition and demolition, or 3) the proposed alternative, which is elevating the homes at their current locations. FEMA has determined that elevating the structures is the most practicable alternative to ensure that the homes and their occupants are out of harm's way. FEMA has also determined that investment of funds to reduce flood risk is in the public interest. Potential impacts to the floodplain are anticipated to be temporary during construction and minimized through best management practices and conservation measures incorporated from resource agency recommendations and required regulatory permits.

Comments about this project, potential alternatives, and floodplain impacts may be submitted in writing within 15 days of the date of this publication to: U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency – Region 2 – Environmental Planning and Historic Preservation, 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY, 10278 or via email to FEMAR2COMMENT@fema.dhs.gov. If substantive comments are received, FEMA will evaluate and address the comments as part of the environmental documentation for this project.
