Cape May, NJ – March 21, 2025 — In recognition of the 50th anniversary of Cape May’s designation as a National Historic Landmark, the City of Cape May invites the public to submit nominations honoring individuals, organizations, and properties that have contributed to the preservation of the city’s historic character.
The Mayor and Council, in partnership with the Historic Preservation Commission, seek nominations for two awards:
Nomination forms are available on the City of Cape May website and at the Historic Preservation Office in City Hall. All nominations must be submitted by March 31, 2025, and will be reviewed anonymously by the selection committee.
Award recipients will be recognized at a public celebration held during Historic Preservation Month on Wednesday, May 13, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the historic Chalfonte Hotel (Magnolia Room). The event is free and open to the public.
Stewardship Award recipients will receive commemorative plaques, and Leadership Award recipients will receive official commendations.
Members of the public are encouraged to participate by submitting nominations and helping to recognize the people and places that have shaped and sustained Cape May’s historic legacy.
