Citizenship Award

Deadline for nominations: December 31, 2026

The City of Cape May is now accepting nominations for the Citizenship Award. The Citizenship Award is presented annually to an individual who has performed outstanding service or made exceptional voluntary contributions to the community. Anyone with community contact may nominate someone who they feel meets the criteria of the award. The recipient of the award is not made aware that they have been selected until the actual day of the award ceremonies. Nominations are reviewed and voted on by City Council. 

Requirements:
Continually gives their time, dedication, and talents to the betterment of the community.
Lends leadership and vision, organizes or assists in achieving organizational goals. 
Serve on committees and programs lending their expertise and guidance voluntarily. 
The recipient will have performed any service that has advanced or helped the quality of life in the City.
Any person whose name appeared on a public ballot for any public office within the last two (2) preceding years, or currently holds elected office, is not eligible for the award.
