City Clerk

The City Clerk’s responsibilities as defined by New Jersey Statutes include: Secretary to the Municipal Corporation, Secretary to the Governing Body, Chief Administrative Officer of all Elections held in the municipality, Chief Registrar of voters in the municipality, and Administrative and Licensing Officer.  The City Clerk is also the Registrar of Vital Statistics and Custodian of Records for the municipality.

The City Clerk’s Office handles the following:

  • Voter Registration Information
  • Elections
  • Maintains records including all resolutions, ordinances, agendas, and minutes for the municipality
  • Open Public Records Act (OPRA) Requests
  • Liquor Licenses
  • ABC Permits
  • Bingo/Raffle Licenses
  • Special Event Applications
  • Tort Claim Notices
  • Marriage Licenses applications
  • Maintains Marriage, Birth and Death Records for events that occurred within the City of Cape May dating back to 1921
  • Certified Copies of Vital Records
