Historic Preservation Awards

Deadline for Nominations: March 31, 2026 

ABOUT THE AWARDS 
The City of Cape May in partnership with the Cape May Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) announces two Special Awards to recognize outstanding leadership in historic preservation and stewardship of Contributing or Key Contributing properties. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR NOMINATIONS 
Stewardship 

• Exceptional integrity of historic materials and presence on the street 
• History of (long term) evidence of sensitive maintenance and care for property 
• Description of property’s significance through story, publicity, photos 

Leadership 

• Exceptional ability to express goals of preservation and to inspire and accomplish them 
• Photographs, publicity, awards, and achievements as evidence of impact 
• Letters of support attesting to positive engagement and broad impact over time 

Nominations may be made by anyone, with the knowledge and assent of the nominee or property owner. Self-nominations will also be accepted.  
BLIND NOMINATIONS: Include nominator’s name on cover sheet only.  

NOMINATION PROCEDURE & DEADLINES 
Nominations must be submitted by March 31, 2026.
Nominators and recipients will be notified no later than April 22nd.
Awards will be presented on May 13, 2026
