Rehabilitation of existing passive park. County grant was approved for $1,397,366.10. Project Awarded to Fred Schiavone Construction $1,748,956.13. Project started in February 2026. Site has been cleared. Working on seat wall foundation.

2. LAFAYETTE STREET PARK - CITY PROJECT
This project has been in the planning and design phase for several years. We have finally moved through some of the permitting and environmental clean-up phases. The remaining Phase includes the Hardcourts (Pickleball and Basketball), parking area, pavilion and restrooms nearing design. Anticipate applying for County Grant in 2026 and anticipate construction in 2027 after the Police HQ building is completed.

3. PROMENADE PRESERVATION - CITY PROJECT
City received a grant from the state in amount of $6.7M. Project awarded to Fred Schiavone Construction. Expect parking closures along Beach Ave from Madison Ave to Cove Pavilion. Paving promenade Jackson to Cove Pavilion on 4/20-4-24. Continue concrete repairs Gurney to Grant. Promenade and beach access closures change weekly.

5. SIDEWALK REHABILITATION PROJECT – CITY PROJECT
Work will include replacing deteriorated concrete and resetting uneven brick/ bluestone sidewalk. This is a large scale sidewalk project where the homeowner pays for 30% of the repair cost and the City pays the other 70%. Project awarded to Ambient Construction for $495,720. Limits for Phase 1 will include Columbia, Virginia, Ocean and other misc. streets identified with the Shade Tree Commission. The City is working on Phase 2 for Fall/Winter 2026/27. Be alert for closed sidewalk.

6. POLICE STATION – CITY PROJECT
Construct new Police Station at corner of Lafayette and St. John. Project awarded to Ogren Construction for 8,626,000 with an anticipated completion date of May 2027. Started construction 11/25/25. Masonry wall construction to continue for next several weeks.

7. TENNIS CLUB - CITY PROJECT
Work will include upgrading ADA facilities at the Tennis Club. Received DCA Small Cities Grant in the amount of $270,672 (Ph1) and $195,600 (Ph2) with a 10% City Match. Working on design of the project with anticipated bidding in Summer 2026 for Fall 2026 construction.

8. LIFEGUARD STATION - CITY PROJECT
Work will include upgrading facility for adequate men/women locker room and restrooms. No expansion vertically or horizontally is planned. Project has been awarded to Marino General Construction for$1,168,645 anticipated completion May 2026.

1. SEAWALL EXTENSION CITY PROJECT & U.S. ARMY CORP OF ENGINEERS (USACE) PROJECT
Work will include extending the seawall and promenade from the existing terminus just East of Madison Ave to Wilmington Ave and extend down Wilmington Ave. The City has received HPC, SHPO and NJDEP CAFRA Permit for the project. The City anticipates completing final design in 2024. The City has been awarded a FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant and has been identified for further review. The USACE project extends 200 ft each side of the Wilmington Ave – Beach Ave Intersection. The USACE is in the final design stages and working on Project Partnership Agreement. The City anticipates bidding the project in May/June but we have to wait for final signoff from FEMA for the grant funding.

2. DELAWARE AVE REVETMENT - U.S. ARMY CORP OF ENGINEERS (USACE) AND COUNTY PROJECT
Work will include installing stone revetment along Delaware Ave and Cape May Harbor from Just East of Baltimore St to just West of Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May. Anticipated construction during 2026.

3. ELMIRA STREET FLOOD RESILENCY PROJECT - CITY PROJECT
Work will include design, NJDEP permitting and construction of a flood resiliency wall along Elmira St along Venice St and Bank St. No construction budget has been established for this project.

4. FIRST AVE PEDESTRIAN/BICYCLE BRIDGE - JOINT WEST CAPE MAY/CAPE MAY CITY PROJECT
West Cape May is taking the lead on design & construction of a Pedestrian & Bicycle bridge on First Ave. West Cape May received $700,000 grant from the NJDOT. West Cape May has submitted for environmental permitting.

5. WATER TREATMENT PLANT – CITY PROJECT
The proposed improvements consist of a new 3.24 MGD Desalination Water Treatment Facility and a new 1.0 MGD Iron Removal Treatment Facility. Both treatment facilities will be located in a single Building at the City’s Public Works Yard, adjacent to the existing Water Treatment Plant. The new Water Treatment Plant will include prefiltration, RO feed pumps, three (3) RO treatment trains, chemical feed systems, a lime silo, iron removal pressure filters, a backwash tank, electrical components, instrumentation, site improvements, solar panels, electrical distribution equipment, an emergency generator and all other ancillary equipment. All critical components will be located within a Building with a Finished Floor Elevation of 12.5 which is 2 feet higher than the FEMA 500-year flood elevation. We anticipate constructing the project in phases with the First Phase being advertised for construction in May 2026. Anticipated total construction cost is $40,000,000.

6. FY2026 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT – CITY PROJECT
Project in design phase. Work will include reconstructing the road with drainage/curb/sidewalk repairs, watermain replacement and sewer main replacement. The City has received $3,000,000 in Loan Forgiveness from the NJ Water Infrastructure Bank. Streets include Harbor Lane (Texas Ave to End), Virginia Ave (Pittsburg to Philadelphia), Reading Ave (Virginia to Ohio) and Howard St (Kearney to Sewell).

Project in design phase. Work will include reconstructing the road with roadway reconstruction. The City has received $159,757 grant from the NJDOT. Project limits are Columbia to Beach Ave.
