Lafayette Street Park Advisory Committee

(Created September 19, 2017 by City Council Resolution 218-09-2017)

Purpose:

To review the original Lafayette Street Park plans, designs and options in keeping with Phase II and III funding sources;

To explore funding sources and options for Phase IV;

To facilitate and monitor completion of Phases II, III and IV of Lafayette Street Park;

To study and review relevant issues related to the Park and make recommendations to City Council concerning those issues;

To report the advisory committee’s experience and findings in ways to aid development of a city-wide park system.

Selected Tasks:

  • Identify state, federal and other permits that need to be completed and submitted;
  • Assure planned Park activities and use of space match community interests and usage patterns;
  • Review planned activities and assure spaces are adequate for intended uses;
  • Add restrooms to the Park design;
  • Consider safety issues especially regarding ingress and egress from Lafayette Street;
  • Review and propose alternative parking plans;
  • Refine plans for Phase IV compatible with possible funding resources.
